My parents describe themselves as "culture vultures" and growing up we frequented all of the Boston area museums including the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park in Lincoln, MA. The DeCordova is unique because in addition to the indoor exhibits, they focus an equal amount of attention on their outdoor installations.
While at work last week I was perusing one of my daily websites (which I read for a client) when this image took my breath away:
"Capturing Resonance" by Soo Sunny Park and Spencer Topel. This stunning sculpture is made from a chain link fence!
According to the museum website, "In their first collaboration, sculptor Soo Sunny Park and sound artist
and composer Spencer Topel have transformed deCordova’s Window Gallery
into a multi-sensory environment." Can't you feel the warmth from the kaleidoscope of colors?
Now, I don't mean to tease you, but the DeCordova's indoor museum is currently closed while they install the summer exhibits. The museum will re-open on May 25th (Memorial Day weekend). So while you can't see this until then, to reward loyal visitors, the museum is offering 50% off admission to the outdoor sculpture park now through May 25th.
For more information on "Capturing Resonance" and the outdoor sculpture park, visit the museum's website.
